Video Series: Exploring the Racial Fabric

“How do we live together, as a nation, when we consist of so many different races and cultures?”

This was the initial question that prompted five students from SMU, under the supervision of Adjunct Faculty Jorg Dietzel, to set out and explore. In interviews with Singaporeans across the island they probed multi-racial relationships, how we speak to our children about race, the way we grow up together and how we live door-to-door in our HDBs.

The results are four honest, touching videos with a key message: Yes, we are all different. But we are also the same, and a little understanding and knowledge of the other enable us to look deeper than the colour of our skins.

The video project was supported by OnePeople.sg, The Silent Foundation and SMU.
